Steven Marc Berkowitz

Steven Marc Berkowitz, Age-67 of Punta Gorda, Florida passed away on Friday December 15th, 2023, at his residence. Steven was born on April 11th, 1956, in Boston, Massachusetts and was a 1974 graduate of Newton High School in Newton, Massachusetts Steven was also a veteran of the U.S. Airforce and upon his discharge worked the rest of his career as a police officer in Wheat Ridge, Colorado until his retirement. He moved to Punta Gorda in 2019. He was an active member of the American Legion and Elks Lodge in Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte. Steven was a self-identified “foodie” and enjoyed playing poker and loved his family, fellow officers and especially his dogs. Steven is preceded in death by his parents; Stanley and Gladys Berkowitz. He is survived by his wife, Teresa; three children, Casandra (Jamie) Joy, William (Heidi) Berkowitz and Blake Hott; a brother; Bobby Berkowitz, a sister; Judith Berkowitz Goodsill and ten grandchildren. A graveside service will be held on Friday December 22, 2023, at 1:30 pm at Sarasota National Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers the family suggest contributions be made to C.O.P.S, Project Rollcall, Israel Gives or any animal rescue in Steven's name.
