Steven V. Kois

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Steven V. Kois, a beloved member of the Des Plaines, Illinois community who retired to Hilton Head Island in 2019. Steve passed away unexpectedly on February 23, 2023 at the age of 68. Steve was born in Chicago, Illinois to Thomas and Dorothy (nee Setlak) Kois in 1954. The eldest son of five siblings; Deborah Lunardini (the late Michael), John, Alan (Deborah), and Karen Lakoske (Steve). Steve married the love of his life, Cynthia A Kois (nee Svetic) in 1979. They met during Steve’s tenure at the Des Plaines Park District where he dedicated himself to taking care of the golf courses and ensuring that they were always in pristine condition. After retiring, Steve & Cindy moved to Hilton Head Island to enjoy their golden years in the warm sunshine and gentle breezes of the South. Steve took pride in upgrading, caring for, and maintaining his family’s home, so much that you have to belabor him to get him out of his element — but he always had a great time. He was a soft spoken individual whose witty remarks often brought laughter to others. He had a heart of gold and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He was a skilled handyman who could fix just about anything and was always eager to help out others in need. He was a generous and selfless man who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. While his passing leaves a void in the lives of those who loved him, his memory will live on through the countless lives he touched with his kindness and generosity. Steve is preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Dorothy and brother-in-law Michael. He will be remembered by his wife, Cindy, and children, Amanda and Adam, and his dog, Cubbie.
