Steven Clark Marshall, Steve, age 54, of Las Vegas, died Tuesday, March 1, 2016. Steven was born August 18, 1961 at George Air Force Base in Victorville CA to the late David Alan and the late Ayako Marshall. Steve graduated from Western High School in 1979 and then trained as a Heavy Duty Repairman. He worked in that field at the Nevada Test Site for 14 years. He also worked at Las Vegas Paving for several years. Steve enjoyed coaching soccer. He coached his sons in soccer and loved it so much that he continued to coach after his own sons were done. He loved watching all the boys succeed. Over the years, Steve has had several back, neck, hip and shoulder surgeries; Steve was tough and came through it all. He never quit. Last March he was diagnosed with a rare form of small intestinal cancer. He defeated the odds after the initial diagnosis when doctors didn't think he would survive the week. His determination to beat cancer gave us 11 more months with him, and we are grateful for those. God had other plans, though; he was needed in Heaven. There must be a soccer team up there that needs a great coach. Steve is survived by his wife of 30 years, Christine Marshall; Son Steven Marshall, Jr. and wife Camila Marshall, son Christopher Marshall, daughter Brittany Marie Marshall; brother Dave Marshall, Jr. and his wife Linda Marshall; family by marriage: Parents-in-law Steve and Mary Louise Mace, brother-in-law Tom Mace, brother-in-law Tim Mace, sister-in-law Connie Fry and her husband Robert Fry; numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and ....his pet dog Cherry. Services will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 4925 S. Torrey Pines Drive. The visitation will take place beginning at 10:00 AM, the funeral mass will begin at 11:00 AM. A lunch buffet, with sharing of favorite stories, will immediately follow the mass. The family welcomes you to attend all or any of the gatherings you are able to join. Casual attire is acceptable, and NIKE gear is welcome. A special thank you to Dr. Michael and all the staff at Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada, the wonderful staff and doctors at St. Rose Dominican San Martin campus, Nathan Adelson Hospice and every other place we had to go to help Steve fight. We couldn't have done it without all of your help and support. There is a special place in Heaven for all of you. Thank you, too, to family and friends who have always been there for us and have helped in any way they could. Thanks especially to "Mom and Dad" Mace for always being there for us and for helping with our daughter Brittany and dog Cherry during all the overnight hospital stays. Thank you to Chris's sister Connie and honorary sister Carol for all the hours of support, and thank you to Tim Mace for countless chicken wing runs and for keeping Steve company while Chris had to run errands.
