Steven "Skunk" Ross
November 17th, 1951 - March 2nd, 2015
Obituary Steven "Skunk" Ross, 63, of Fort Collins died at Poudre Valley Hospital on Monday, March 2, 2015. He was born to Bernard and Mary Ross on November 17, 1951 in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. After graduating from Jefferson High School in Wheat Ridge, he attended the University of Hawaii. After college he enlisted in the Air Force and was a crew member on an AWACS plane and was a Russian Linguistic. He served in Okinawa and Europe. He came to Fort Collins in 1975 and worked with his parents at Cake World and also tended bar at the Hauf Brau, the Tack Room, and Washington's Bar and Grill. Skunk loved the Denver Broncos and the Rockies. He was famous for his "Mile High" tailgate parties at Broncos games where he would host and cater the event in his tuxedo, top hat and shorts. He loved to play golf at Mountain Vista Golf Course and fish the lakes and streams around Red Feather Lakes. He is survived by his mother, Mary Ross-Peterson of Fort Collins,Colorado, brother Dan (Barbara) Ross of Livermore,Colorado and his niece and God Daughter Amanda Ross of Commerce City, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his father. A memorial service with military honors will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 11 AM at the VFW Post #1781, 603 Lesser Drive, Fort Collins with a reception to follow the service. Burial will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at 10:30 AM, Staging area "B".
