Leave a tribute

Steven Charles Sauer entered into eternal life on October 18, 2018, after a courageous battle with a lengthy illness. Steve was born in Denver, Colorado on April 5, 1951, to Ambrose Charles Sauer and Lucille Agnes Younger and grew up in Commerce City. The family later moved to Aurora where Steve graduated high school. He played the accordion and enjoyed performing in parks around the Denver area. After achieving a degree in Accounting from the Community College of Denver, Steve joined the Navy in 1972. Prior to boot camp, Steve married Linda McLaughlin in May 1972. Following boot camp, he was stationed on Guam where he served as a Yeoman. Linda joined him on the island in January 1973. Steve enjoyed the local food and scuba diving while stationed there. He and Linda were blessed with the birth of their daughter and only child, Nicole, in September 1974. He and his young family were moved to Maryland in August 1975 where Steve served as an Intelligence Specialist. Two years later in August 1977, he was honorably discharged from the Navy. The family returned to Denver and Steve went to work in the family construction business as a carpenter. Steve and his family lived in Northglenn when he later felt a called to healing through chiropractic. He started pre-med studies in 1985 and left for chiropractic school in Portland, Oregon in 1987. Five years later in December 1992, Steve achieved and graduated as a Doctor of Chiropractic. Returning to Denver, he practiced for 22 years. Dr. Steve had an amazing intuition to help heal patients through the work of his hands and his adjustments. He had many patients through his 22 years and many came from out-of-state to see him. Along with practicing chiropractic, he continued to work in carpentry and remodeling. Throughout this time, Steve lived in Thornton and Westminster. Steve enjoyed life to the fullest. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his large and extended family. He enjoyed water skiing, snow skiing, bowling, horseshoes, and hog roasts. For his 50th birthday, Steve went skydiving. In recent years, Steve nurtured his artistry in intricate woodworking and he created many beautiful pieces, including crosses, angels, and pictures depicting scenes from the Bible. Steve loved to spend time with friends and held them closely. He enriched the lives of everyone he touched, whether family or friend. Everyone looked forward to Steve’s hugs. Linda was the love of Steve’s life and he adored her for 46 years. He loved to spend time traveling and experiencing many adventures with her, whether a road trip through the USA, where they visited every state or trips out of the country. Steve was preceded in death by father Ambrose and brother Rodney. He is survived by mother Lucille Sauer-Peeples (Billy), sister Christine Focken (Doyle), brother Randy, wife Linda, daughter Nikki Barnard (Terry), daughter Amber McLaughlin (Jared), grandchildren Avery Barnard and Peyton Barnard, and many very close-knit extended family members. A Celebration of Life will be held on November 3, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Amazing Grace Community Church at 541 E. 99th Place in Thornton, Colorado. A reception will follow at the church. The family requests sending your favorite memory of Steve and a picture, if you’d like, to memoriesofstevensauer@gmail.com. Memories will be shared at the reception.
