Steven was born in Budapest, Hungary on May 12, 1943 to Gabriel and Magdalena Stoll. During WWII Steven and his family fled Hungary and spent time at a displacement camp in Germany. They were then sponsored by the Catholic church and began their journey to America where they settled in Peoria, IL. Once through high school, Stevens higher education included Marquette University and the University of Illinois. While attending college, Steven was a Big 10 Fencing Champion.Steven was a Board Certified Veterinary Surgeon who served on the staff of the Animal Medical Center in New York City and was later a professor of surgery at the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine. Steven had a true passion for lecturing and teaching in the field of Veterinary care. During a leave of absence from teaching during the Cold War, Steven traveled to Europe. Among his travels he visited Hungary and was invited to lecture at the University of Budapest. In the 1980s Steven and his wife Beverly purchased and ran the Seattle Veterinary Hospital for Surgery in Lynnwood, WA. After selling his practice, Steven worked at the Veterinary Specialty Center of Lynnwood.Among Stevens loves were his motorcycles, family and life. He will be greatly missed by former wife and business partner of many years, Dr. Beverly (Hall) Stoll and his children: Monica (Pat) Connors, Christina (Sean) Gaddy, Shannan Stoll, Bla Stoll, and Nathaniel Stoll; six grandchildren; two sisters and one brother.A viewing at Becks Funeral Home, 405 5th Ave. S, Edmonds will be held from 5:30-7pm with Rosary beginning at 7pm on Sunday, Jan. 24. The Funeral Mass will be held on Mon., Jan. 25 at 11 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 630 7th Ave. N in Edmonds. The Graveside service will be held on Tues., Jan. 26 at 1pm at Quilcene Cemetery in Quilcene, WA.On behalf of Steven, donations may be given to: Christian Veterinary Mission at www.cvmusa.org or Jesuit Volunteer Corps at www.jesuitvolunteers.org.
