Stuart "Stu" Spencer Wade
March 25th, 1934 - September 21st, 2018
Stuart "Stu" Spencer Wade, age 84, passed from this life into the presence of God on Friday, September 21, 2018. Stu and his family lived in Chico for the past 54 years. His activities, relationships, and legacy are far reaching and deeply felt in the lives of those he touched. He will be missed by many. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Glen Oaks Memorial Park. A Celebration of Life will be held at The Chico Masonic Family Center at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 13, 2018. Stuart was born on March 25, 1934 in Moundville, WI to Max and Sarah Wade. On September 11, 1954 Stu married Shirley Merrill in Pardeeville, WI. On August 24, 1955 Stuart entered the Army and served as a medic at Fort Dix, New Jersey. In 1960 Stu and Shirley packed up and moved their young family to Willows where he worked for Alta Dairy and then Glenn-Colusa Irrigation District. They moved to Chico in 1964 so Stu could begin his 32-year career with Red Star/Aramark as a route driver and then District Manager. In those early years, in addition to the weekend boating/camping family outings, attending sporting events, golfing, hunting and fishing with his young son Randy, etc., Stu was also a square dance caller for the Chico Squares. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, past member of Aldersgate Methodist Church, Kiwanis, Masons and the Family Motor Coach Association. Stu developed an interest in vintage tractors many years ago and he remained active in several vintage tractor clubs. Although retired, he loved to be busy and he worked periodically with Chico Nissan/Hyundai and the Silver Dollar Fair. Stu and Shirley traveled extensively with friends on motorcycles and RV trips. Their greatest joy was spending time with their grandchildren. After Shirley passed away in 2014, Stu married Phyllis Elaine Hawker of Chico on November 3, 2015. Stu and Phyllis enjoyed family, friends, fun, road trips and other travel, and spent time frequently with Phyllis's three sons Curt Hawker, Tony (Kellie) Hawker, and Chad (Courtney) Hawker, and her 8 grandchildren. Stuart's survivors include his wife Phyllis Wade of Chico; one daughter, Vicky (Gary) Mount of Chico, daughter-in-law Nancy Wade of Chico; two brothers, Paul Wade (Barbara) and Ronald Wade of Moundville; WI, a sister Ethel (Tom) Reynolds, Elburn, IL; four grandchildren, Kristina Cinquini-Schofield (Tyler) of Arbuckle, Kelsey Wade of New Mexico, Jacob Wade and Connor Wade of Chico. Stuart was proceeded in death by his son Randy Stuart Wade in 1996, and two brothers Howard Wade and Neal Wade. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association in care of Brusie Funeral Home, Chico.
