Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel - Payette
Susan Kay Akers
October 30th, 1945 - February 3rd, 2024
Susan Kay Akers, 78, passed away in her home at Edgewood Spring Creek Assisted Living in Fruitland, ID surrounded by her loving family, friends, and amazing care team after a short and courageous battle with cancer. Susan was born to Kenneth Fredrick Forsdick and Leta Ellen Sayre in Tacoma, WA on October 30, 1945. She was the seventh child joining Barbara, Phyllis, Betty, Vivian, Gary, and Judy. Susan’s childhood was full of many new adventures. Due to her father’s occupation, it required the family to move often to various locations throughout the western United States. This meant that she wasn’t in one place too long and she attended several different schools. Finally Susan settled into the Payette area. (An area she often reminisced throughout her life as her ultimate favorite place.) While attending Payette High School Susan fell head over heels for Payette High School football player Johnnie Lee Moore. On October 19, 1963 Susan and Johnnie were married in Payette, ID. They had five children; Ron, Melissa, Joanie, Leta, and Corey. They lived in Grangeville, Payette, Las Vegas, Gresham, back to Payette and Weiser. Mom loved to sew clothes for her children as well as doll clothes. She loved backing and making yummy fancy fudge. She also loved to draw. Years after her divorce she married Mearl Taylor in 1983. On May 8, 1998 he passed away after a courageous battle to cancer. During her marriage to Mearl she went to beauty school and became a beautician. She was active in the Elk’s. Susan and Mearl traveled some before his death. Susan married Donald Akers on New Year’s Eve in 1998. He passed away December 16, 2008 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. During her marriage to Don they bowled and traveled a lot. In September 2021 she moved into Edgewood Spring Creek Assisted Living. She thrived there and formed many friendships. Susan is survived by her son Ron (Becky) Moore and their children Chris, Tara (Justin) Brotherton; her daughter Melissa (Robert) Real and their children Michael (Patricia), Sarah, Aaron; her daughter Joanie Orr and her children Zachary (Danyel) Ingram, Phillip (Codilyn) Ingram, Matthew (Crystal) Ingram, Alex Ingram, Sydnye Gaskins and her finance Ken Alverson, Savannah (Michael) Wright; her daughter Leta Rast, her son Corey Moore, Sisters Betty Sherer, Vivian Bowen, Judy Henningsen, brother Gary (Shawna) Forsdick, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is also survived by her great grandchildren Maddie and Gus Brotherton, Kendal and Lukas Real, Millie and Tanner Ingram, Gage Ingram, Samantha, Katelyn, Isaac, and Emerly Ingram, Lennox, Maddix, and River Ingram, Ben, Roran, Ellie, Ezra Ingram and Rylee Alverson, Allen and Keely Wright, Brian and Johnnie Rast. She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Barbara and Phyllis, five brother in laws, her ex-husband Johnnie Moore, and husbands Mearl and Don, and granddaughter Susie Moore. The family of Susan Kay Akers wish to express their heartfelt appreciation for Hospice Nurse Jeannie and aide Dorcee as their kindness and care added so much joy everyday, the lovely cards, beautiful flowers, sweetest notes, kindest spoken words of comfort, and arms opened wide for the much needed hugs, and especially to “all the staff, friends, greatest family” at Edgewood Springcreek Assisted Living for giving and loving our sweet Susan the best years of her life.
