Susan Joyce Atwood
August 13th, 1946 - October 3rd, 2012
Susan Joyce (Parker) Atwood On October 3, 2012, Sue, 66, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends. Her illness was short-lived, and we are grateful that she was in high spirits and suffered no pain. Sue was born in Rhode Island on Aug. 13, 1946, the only child of Earl B. and Ruth (Blackledge) Parker. They moved to Seattle, Washington when she was ten. She graduated from Bothell High School and received her bachelor's degree in Geology from the University of Washington. Sue married and had two children, Daniel in Feb. 1970 and Anna in Dec. 1971. She worked 32 years (1976 to 2008) for the State of Washington. Her last 22 years were at the Department of Licensing in IT as a Systems Analyst. Sue loved cats, music, cooking, gardening, bird watching, travelling to Hawaii, and reading mystery books. She was a long-time participant with the Olympia Rose Society. She was an avid gourmet cook, collector of new recipes, and enjoyed cooking with family. Sue was a loving mother and grandmother and valued colleague. Sue will be greatly missed for her sweet, kind, gentle, and peaceful personality. Sue is survived by her brother, Tom Parker; son, Daniel Buchholz; daughter, Anna Schultz; and four grandchildren, Jessica Buchholz, Emily Schultz, Thanh-Tú and Thanh-Nhã Buchholz. The Guestbook below is available to leave memories of Sue (Mom, Nana) or condolences for the family.
