Susan Yvonne Harris

On Thursday, March 21st, Susan Yvonne (Lanning) Harris passed away after a short battle with cancer.  Susan was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming, on October 9th, 1949, to Ralph and Rachel (Brethauer) Lanning.  She graduated from Greeley West High School in 1967. 

Most of Susan’s professional life involved working in real estate.  She worked for the Fort Collins Board of Realtors before working at the Greeley Area Realtor Association as an Association Executive from 1989 to 2011. After leaving real estate, she worked for the Evans Police Department as a Property/Evidence Technician, before finally retiring in 2019.  She also proudly sat as a Chair of the Greeley Urban Renewal Authority for 11 years.

Family and friends were the most important aspect of Susan’s life.  She was an enthusiastic researcher of her family history and enjoyed connecting with extended family members.  She looked forward to holidays where she and her brother, Steve, would prepare dinner for the family.  Often, the holiday dinner was followed by an epic game of Scrabble.  She loved spending time talking on the phone with her siblings and friends daily.  She loved gardening, crafting, and her dog, Max.  Most of all, she loved her son, Geoffrey. 

Susan is survived by her son, Geoffrey Harris (Loni); her sister, Sharon Schadel (Keith); her brother, Steven Lanning, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is proceeded in death by her father, Ralph, her mother, Rachel, her brother Timothy, her sister-in-law Teresa, her sister-in-law Mary, and her grand-nephew Colton.   

A Memorial Service for Susan will be held at the Northern Colorado Crematory on Tuesday, April 2nd, 2024, at 11:00 am.  A reception will follow at the Millennium Event Center at 12:30 pm.
