Susan M. Howard

Susan M. Howard, 52, of Fonda, NY passed away peacefully on January 22, 2012 at the Albany Hospice Inn at St. Peters Hospital after a battle with cancer. She was born June 24, 1959 in Johnstown, NY. The daughter of the late Melvin Lawton and Fern Knapp. Susan is a life time resident of the area and graduated from Johnstown High School. She was a loving and devoted stay at home mom. She most recently was employed by Lexington as a Transportation Clerk. Susan adored her children and also cared for and babysat many neighborhood children over the years. Above anything she loved her kids. She enjoyed going to craft fairs, dancing, music and football. She belonged to the Johnstown Moose Lodge #1185. She also liked to read magazines and Stephen King novels. Her loving family includes her daughters Jamie Mike Murphy of Albany and Jillian Howard of Glen, son Matthew Howard Chivon Jacobs of Amsterdam, companion Tom Sgambato of Gloversville; brother, Randy Lawton; nieces Connie Eschler, Erica Clark and Tracey Stahl; nephew John Eschler and former husband Jim Howard. Several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. In addition to her parents Melvin Lawton and Fern Knapp, Susan is predeceased by her daughter Katie Howard; brothers Tom and Robert Stahl and sister Sandy Eschler. Funeral services for Susan will take place on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at 11 am at the Fonda Reformed Church, Broadway in Fonda NY. Rev. Josh Baron will preside. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday evening, January 24, 2012 from 4pm until 7pm at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville NY 12072. Memorial contributions may be made in Susan's memory to the Albany Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital, 315 South Manning Blvd. Albany, NY 12208.
