Susan Kay Bowman Kirkham

Susan Kay (Bowman) Kirkham passed away at 1:45 PM on December 26, 2023, at Lexington Medical Center in West Columbia, South Carolina. She was born September 24, 1954, to Florence Vondetta (Tucker) Bowman and Virgil Elmore Bowman, Sr. and they preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death was one son, Michael Dennis Kirkham, sisters, Delores Gouran, Betty Ballard, Nancy Emerick, Donna Campbell and two brothers, John Thomas Bowman and Virgil E. Bowman, Jr. Surviving are her husband, Perry Dennis Kirkham of Gaston, SC, sons: Perry Bryan (Stacey) Kirkham of Pelion, SC, and Thomas Joseph (Kory) Kirkham of Lexington, SC, her sisters: Linda (Ron) Meinert of Leavensworth, KS, Cindy (Larry) Durst of Meredosia, IL along with 14 grandkids and 19 great-grandkids scattered everywhere, but 10 great-grandkids within a 10 mile radius of her house. Sue graduated with the Class of 1972 from Beardstown Jr. Sr. High School in Beardstown, Illinois. She had numerous jobs through the years working at Caseys, Illinois Glove Factory, Plaza Leather Cleaners, Excel and over 10 years as Assistanat Manager and Manager at Family Dollar Stores in Jacksonville, Illinois and Rushville, Illinois. Sue loved the fact that she was in South Carolina with her sons and their families, the grandkids and the great-grandkids that are down here. There was always a twinkle in her eyes and a smile on her face when the great-grandkids came to visit or spend the night. She enjoyed gardening, sitting on the back deck and taking the great-granddaughters shopping. Per her wishes, Sue will be cremated. There will be no visitation and a Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date. South Carolina Cremation Society is assisting the family.
