Susan Carol Nelson

Susan Carol Nelson passed away peacefully August 27, 2024 at her home in Las Vegas, Nevada. 

Susan was born October 14, 1945 to Inez (Haines) & Raymond “Nels” Nelson in Cambridge, Nebraska. 

Susan grew up and graduated from high school in Bennington, Nebraska. After high school she attended Midland Lutheran College in Fremont Nebraska where she met and married Gary William Kammerer of Falls City, Nebraska. Susan and Gary shared 3 children Andrea, Holly and Christopher. 

Susan’s professional life included several business adventures including owning and operating KD Electric in Norfolk Nebraska and Taco Del Sol in Carroll Iowa. 

Her love of sports, especially golf and football and particularly her Huskers and Packers, as well as a passion for playing bridge, brought her great joy as well as introduced her to many cherished friends throughout her life. 

Susan was preceded in death by her mother, Inez Colleen (Haines) Nelson, her father, Raymond “Nels” Nelson, her son, Christopher Nelson Kammerer, Brother, William Earl Nelson, and former husband, Gary William Kammerer.

Susan is survived by her sister, Mary Beth Nelson of Omaha, her brother James Michael Nelson also of Omaha. Daughter Holly Kammerer of Omaha. Daughter and son-in-law Andrea (Kammerer) and Brad Smith of Papillion NE, Daughter-in-law Jennifer (Nooney) Kammerer of Las Vegas, NV. Grandchildren, Chandler (Sanders) Green and husband Cody of Omaha, Isaac Smith and Keaton Smith of Papillion, and Great-Grandchildren Eastyn and Jasper Green. She also leaves a nephew, Ian Atwood, nieces, their families and many extended family members and friends. She so loved her family and friends and all who knew and loved Susan will miss her dearly. 

Susan’s wish was to be cremated and for her family to hold an intimate celebration of life to scatter her ashes as she requested.
