Suzanne "Sue" (LeCompte) Moreau died Wednesday, April 25, 2018. She was born in Lewiston, Maine to Adelard "Porkey" LeCompte and Blanche Marie "Tardif" LeCompte on November 26, 1951. She was of French Canadian ancestry and raised in Lewiston, where she graduated from Lewiston High School in 1969. It was there that she met her high school sweetheart, Bertrand "Bert" Moreau, and the two married July 3, 1971. Growing up, Sue excelled at Sports and Music, playing, Softball, Lacrosse, and Soccer where she was a treasured goalie with only 1 score against her in four years. During this time, she also discovered a love for music and had a natural talent for the bass clarinet. She performed in the marching band and concert band. In her early career after high school, Sue worked as a cashier at Cottle's Supermarket on Sabattus Street in Lewiston, and Drummand Street Market in Auburn. This experience led to a personally satisfying career in Accounting. The Air National Guard brought Sue and Bert to Bangor Maine, where they settled in Levant, in 1977 and raised their daughter Melissa May Moreau born in 1975. During the many years they built their life and resided in Levant, Sue spent several years as the treasurer for town of Levant, Maine, and ran her own successful accounting business. Sue had an unbridled passion for horses and loved spending time working on home improvements with Bert. They made several additions to the home and built a home workshop above their hand-built garage. When they retired in 2005, Sue and Bert moved to Englewood, Florida. Here, Sue volunteered at the local elementary school as a teacher's aide, and enjoyed working on elaborate Christmas light displays with Bert. They spent their time with their large family and many friends throughout the region. The love and light of Sue's life is her granddaughter Marisa Mary Peasley, who visited Florida regularly. Sue is pre-deceased by her father Adelard "Porkey" LeCompte. She is survived by her spouse: Bert Moreau, her mother: Blanche LeCompte of Englewood, Florida; her daughter: Melissa (Joseph) Peasley and granddaughter Marisa, all of Orland, Maine; and five brothers and sisters: Monique (Edward) Buzanoski of Newport, ME; Kathleen LeCompte of Englewood, FL; Paul LeCompte of Camden, ME; Mark LeCompte of Tampa, FL; and Carrie (Kevin) Lapham of North Port, FL Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 from 10:00 AM to service time at 11:00 AM at Englewood Community Funeral Home, 3070 South McCall Road. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her. Inurnment will be on Monday, April 22, 2019 at 10 Am at Sarasota National VA Cemetery. The family is grateful to the staff of HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital and Englewood Community Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Sue's name to HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital, 6400 Edgelake Drive, Sarasota, FL 34240. You may share a memory with the family at www.englewoodfh.com
