Edwards Memorial Funeral Homes - University Place
Suzanne Joyce Steiner
March 11th, 1951 - February 11th, 2020
Suzanne Steiner, a beloved mother, grandmother and life long resident of Pierce County, lost her battle with liver cancer on February 11, 2020 at the age of 68. She passed peacefully in her home surrounded by her family listening to her favorite music. Suzanne is survived by her children, Ian McDonald, Kristina Campbell, Karmen West, and Michael West and 9 grandchildren with one more on the way. She is dearly missed by her sisters Michelle Tackett, Janet Clanton, and Andrea Glick, and her brother Rick Acheson. She is predeceased by her mother Lila Buck Rehn. Suzanne was born in Tacoma on March 11, 1951 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She grew up in north Tacoma and as an adult she eventually moved to the Key Peninsula where she remained for several years before settling in Spanaway Washington. Suzanne excelled in sales and was an employee for AT&T and Ric Hansen Entertainment before heath issues forced her retirement. Suzanne was the life of the party and will be remember by her quick wit. She was always ready with a joke and was quick to make friends. She was a life-long die-hard Seahawk fan and loved Marshawn Lynch. She loved her Seahawks and thoroughly reveled in the last game she was able to attend on November 3rd, 2019, where they beat the Buccaneers 40-34 in nail-biting overtime. She was thankful that she lived long enough to see the Seahawks win a Super Bowl and marijuana become legal. Go Hawks! She was an avid Civil War buff and could explain all the battles and important figures in detail. She knew everything there was to know about the Civil War and loved to educate others, including her grandchildren. Her other love was music. Her favorited were Bob Dylan, John Prine, and the Beatles. She loved to talk about all the shows she saw in the 60’s, including the Beatles. She loved folk music, but she also loved any genre that she could dance to. Suzanne’s favorite places were Westport and going up to Mt. Rainier. She loved to walk along the trails at Longmire and Ohanapecosh or sit on the beach for the day and enjoy the waves and watching her grandchildren play. One thing about her is that she lived life her way. She was a true hippie at heart and a free spirit and will truly be missed by many. Rest in peace Suzanne.
