Sylvia Cannon

Sylvia Cannon July 14, 1937 -August 21, 2019 Sylvia was born to Lenard and Emily Brooks in Solano County, California July 14, 1937. She had 4 older sisters, (Evelyn, Thelma, Shirley, and Janice). She also had one younger brother, (Dennis). They have all preceded her in death. They moved to San Diego, California at the age of 9, where she spent most of her life. She attended school at Ocean Beach Elementary, Dana Junior High, and graduated from Point Loma High School in 1956. She met her husband to be, in school and they were married shortly after graduation on June 17, 1956. They soon moved to Sacramento California while Donald served in the US Airforce. After discharge from the Airforce, they returned to San Diego to build their life and home together. In 2018, they moved to Charleston, South Carolina where she lived the remainder of her life. This year Don and Sylvia celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary together. Sylvia was a devout wife and dedicated mother. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Donald B. Cannon who now resides in Charleston, SC, her 2 children; son, Mikel A. Cannon (residing in San Diego, CA), and daughter, Renee L. Cannon and son-in-law Richard Whitford Jr. (residing in Charleston, SC). Sylvia has one granddaughter, Emily Brooke (Cannon) Gunter, 3 greatgrandchildren, 1 step great grandson who resides in Fort Worth, TX. She also has 2 step grandchildren and 1 step great grandson, who reside in Charleston, SC. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Sylvia will be remembered for her dedication to her family, home, friends and her loving husband. Family was always, and always will be, at the center of her life. A celebration of her life will be Saturday, September 7th, 2019 at the home of Renee and Richard at 5pm.
