Sylvia Goins

Sylvia Goins, 78, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away peacefully on Sunday December 22, 2019 at home, she went to sleep and woke up in Heaven. A native of McDowell County, WV, Sylvia was the wife of the late, Thurmond Woodrow Goins and the daughter of the late, Garland Church and Violet Bishop. As mother, grandmother and friend she will be missed dearly here on earth. Those of you that knew her husband, Woody, know that he is rejoicing to see his bride. They are kicking up gold dust in Heaven now. Survivors include her daughter, Doodlum “Mary” Chamberlain and husband, Darryl of Winston-Salem, NC; grandchildren, Robert T. Chamberlain and wife Dedra, Michelle Chilton, Michael Chamberlain and wife, Angelique, Darryl Shawn Linville and wife, Ashley, Zachary Linville, Madeline Linville, and Meredith Chamberlain; great grandchildren, Hayden Chamberlain, Jordan Chilton, Mason Chilton, Hunter Chamberlain, Emme Chamberlain, Kinnah Chamberlain, and Eli Chamberlain;sisters, Kathy Rocks and husband, John, Thelma Williams, Gail Minor, Susan Bishop, Denise Wardlow and husband, Mike, and Jane Craddock and husband, Chuck; Brothers, Carl Bishop and wife, Ellen, David Bishop and wife, Patricia, Rufus Church, and Ralph Church; and her beloved dog, Gizmo. In addition to her husband and parents, Sylvia was preceded in death by her sisters, Debra Paxton, and Virginia Bishop; and brothers, Roger Bishop, and Junior Bishop. Services celebrating Sylvia Goins, mom, Grandma Sylvia, or Grandma Silver, as she was sometimes called, will be as follows: The family will greet friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Friday December 27, 2019 at Gospel Light Baptist Church. The celebration of life service will be held 11:00AM Saturday December 28, 2019 at Gospel Light Baptist Church with longtime family friend Pastor Frank Shumate officiating.
