February 2nd, 1942 - June 21st, 2023

OBITUARY – Pelion – Sylvia L. “Mawmaw” Lilly – A Homegoing service for Sylvia L. Lilly, 81, of Pelion, will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, July 7, 2023 at the Mausoleum Chapel of Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington, SC 29072. Pastor Emanuel Hillis will officiate. Interment in Woodridge Memorial Park will follow the service. The family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service at the Mausoleum Chapel. Woodridge Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Sylvia Lilly passed away June 21, 2023 at her home with her family by her bedside. Born in Bud, West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Flossie Mae Lafferty. Sylvia, known by most as “MawMaw”, if asked what her accomplishments were, would be quick to tell you it would be her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Little did she know that everyone who knew her would tell you she was their “MawMaw” also! She was known for the unconditional love and guidance that a grandmother gives; the one person you go to fix boo-boos and problems of the heart with Godly love and, of course, sugar. Candy along with lots of hugs and kisses always fixes everything. Sylvia was famously known for her quirky reasoning and sayings; for example, telling her doctor that water would “rust her pipes”, and she would stick with drinking Diet Coke. She was a strong woman in her faith, and truly believed in the forgiveness and love that our Father gave to us all on the cross at Calvary so we all too can join her in our forever home. Mawmaw is survived by her daughter, Anita Theresa Westmoreland (Terry) of Pelion; son, Jerrell Franklin Lilly of Pelion; grandchildren; Gene Wood of Gilbert, Alicia Ward (Tim) of Pelion; great grandchildren, Trey Wood, Lilly Owen, and Shelby Ward; sister, Gloria Turpin of Lexington; brother, Randall Hatcher of Princeton, WVA. In addition to her mother, Sylvia was predeceased by her husband, John Lilly; sister, Martha Alley; brothers, Pete Titta, Frank Titta, Jerrell “Buddy” Hatcher. The family would like to thank Dr. Kenya Cooper and the staff at Gilbert Family Practice, and the staff of Regency Southern Care Hospice Services for their attentive and loving care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice in Sylvia's name.
