Mrs. Sylvia C. Van Buren, age 77, of Gloversville, passed away on Saturday May 8, 2021 at the Mountain Valley Hospice House in Gloversville. She was born on March 14, 1944 in Mayfield, the daughter of the late Frederick Louis Thomas and Beulah (Lindsley)Frederick. Sylvia was employed at Winig Slipper, Wood and Hyde Leather and Tic-Tac-Toes Mfg. Also, she had a Beauticians license and did many “first haircuts” over the years. She enjoyed doing a variety of arts and crafts, reading and loved her word searches. She always put family first and she was an avid Elvis fan. Sylvia is survived by her four daughters, Patricia Cozzolino (Ron) of Jacksonville NC , Jacquelyn Hardman of TN, Aneita Amos and Bridget Van Buren both of Gloversville; sister, Shirley Travis (Ron) of Utah; her six grandchildren, Derek Cozzolino, Adam Cozzolino, Stephanie Amos, Paula Coleman, Bret Coleman and Jordan Amos; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members. In addition to both of her parents, Sylvia was predeceased by her husband Paul Van Buren in 2015; her two brothers and sister in laws Elbert Frederick (Sandra), Milford Frederick (Dorothy), and her nephew Ricky Frederick. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the James A. Brennan Memorial Humane Society or a charity of your choice in Sylvia's name. Arrangements are entrusted to Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, Gloversville.
