Tamia Monique Rochester
June 5th, 1973 - August 15th, 2024
Tamia “Tammy” Monique Rochester was born on June 5, 1973, in North Babylon, New York. She fell asleep in death on August 15, 2024, in Lexington, Kentucky. Tammy was the fourth of seven children born to Sidney Rochester and Constance Taylor.
Tammy graduated from Amityville Memorial High School in, Amityville, New York. She had three children she absolutely adored: Dominique, Darius, and Cassias. She went on to study cosmetology at Craven County Community College in New Bern, North Carolina. As one of the best, she practiced her profession for nearly 30 years.
Tammy always recognized her spiritual need which grew deeper as she got older. On July 18, 2009, she symbolized this with her baptism as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She enjoyed teaching others about Jehovah where her “chair was her territory.” When she became sick, her territory was the hospital where she would talk to the nurses, doctors, techs, and anyone who would listen to her. Tammy knew the wonderful hope for the future, and she wanted everyone else to know too.
Tammy loved her family – especially her grandkids. She was full of life and expressed this to others through her love for cooking, entertainment, and lots of laughter. She was a people-person who never met a stranger, and most times became their “therapist.” She loved music and her favorite place to be was the beach, or anywhere with the sun. She was a fashionista who stayed fly and accessorized.
Tammy was known for her famous phrases which included: “they were on it”, “not for nothing”, “when I tell you”, “are you serious?”, “shut up”, and “don’t get me to lying.”
Tammy was preceded in death by her father; Sidney Rochester and one sister: Tatia Rochester.
She is survived by her mother, Constance Taylor; three children: Dominique Greene-McEachern (Christopher), Darius Parker, and Cassias Parker (Jessica); two grandsons: Zayden McEachern and Na’Zir Parker; five brothers and sisters: Philip Rochester (Shawna), Kimberly Colque (Nicolas), Kata Davis (Melvin), Constance Brown (Nathaniel), and Sydney Rochester (Tumarshaw); one nephew William Roberts and two nieces, Mikayla Rochester and Jordan Rochester, and a host of other family and friends.
