October 25th, 1945 - November 2nd, 2018
Tribute Terry L. Burton / Greeley, Co Oct 25, 1945 – Nov 2, 2018 Terry Leslie Burton was called to Heaven at age 73 with family surrounding him. Born in Point Cedar, Arkansas, to mother Dell and father Leslie, Terry grew up loving fishing, camping, cars and guns. He graduated in 1963 from Magnet Cove High and served from 1965-1973 in the Arkansas Army National Guard and was an Expert Marksman. Terry worked as a bookkeeper at Malvern Sand and Gravel, and later owned a macramé and turquoise jewelry store in Hot Springs. His love for travel took him with lifelong friends to Honduras, Mexico, and Guatemala where he lived and raised earth worms to ship back to the USA. After returning to the USA, Terry built homes, worked as a maintenance supervisor at Bismarck Schools and then as Lead Painter at Henderson State University. In 1980 he met his future wife, Cindy. Terry loved politics and was Mayor, City of Norphlet, and was President Kiwanis Club in Arkadelphia. He spent 35 years in the paint business, hiring on at Sherwin Williams in Arkadelphia, Camden and in El Dorado he was store manager. Upon moving to Colorado, he worked at Hometown Arts, Tri City Paints, Sophir Morris Paints, KWAL Paints and Budget Home Center in Longmont. It had been said more than once that Terry was the best paint matching person around. He traveled to Ecuador with his Arkansas friends in 2015. Terry retired doing what the loved the most – working in the fishing and gun departments at Garretson’s Sporting Goods. In April, he lost his best canine friend, buddy and pal, Snoopy, after 17 truly great years together. Terry loved The Lord, beaches, relaxing in the sun, The Arkansas Razorbacks, and a good margarita. Terry is survived and dearly missed by his wife Cindy and son Kevin (Angelise) and adored granddaughter Madison, of Wyoming; daughter Shena Lisenbey (Gary) and beloved grandsons Andrew and Steven. He was “Pa-paw Burt” to Kane, Kimberly, Liam and Hollis – his cherished great grandchildren – all of Arkansas. Terry is also survived by his lifelong best friends and buddies in Arkansas - Harry, Danny and Virgil. A Celebration of Life will be in Spring 2019.
