Terry A Drake

July 1st, 1947 - March 30th, 2024

Terry Drake, of Colorado Springs, passed peacefully on March 30, 2024, at the age of 76, after a short battle with cancer.  Terry was born July 1, 1947, in Terre Haute, Indiana to Orville and Louise Drake.  Terry was a loving husband, an amazing Dad, Pops, Grandpa and PaPaw.

Terry enjoyed playing Santa Claus for a few years after he retired; and to us he will always be the only Santa.  Terry was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the United States Air Force from 1966-1970 as a Fire Control System Mechanic.  After finishing his time in the USAF he lived in Arizona where he met Dianna.  He worked in retail for 27 years and retired from the semi-conductor industry after 20 years.  He was an avid coin collector and railroad enthusiast and enjoyed setting up different scenes for his railroad at his home.   Terry enjoyed playing poker, watching football and cheering on  the Green Bay Packers, doing puzzles, camping, playing cribbage, fishing, boating and tinkering in his garage.  His favorite thing was spending time with his family.

Terry married Dianna on August 25, 1971.  Terry and Dianna were each other’s lifelong companion and the best example of love. They were blessed with three children. They moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1982 from Arizona.

Terry is survived by his wife, Dianna and his children: Theresa Drake, Shawn (Jennifer) Drake and Natalee (Jeremy) Bakel.  Terry is survived by his five grandchildren and their spouses: Seth (Lexi), Shianne (Ben), Tennyson, Mechaiah (Nathan) and Meganne (Austin).  Terry is survived by four great grandchildren: LeiLani, Leeuhm, Elijah and Renfrei.  He is survived by his brother Richard (MaryAnn) Drake and sister Carol (Mike) Damiano and many friends that he called family.

I have known Terry since I was a teenager. He married my best friend so he became my brother. I am the oldest so I needed him more than I thought. Between Terry & Dianna I was able to raise my daughter as a single mom. Very grateful for all he has meant in our lives. Rest in peace my brother.

I met Terry when I was 19 years old at work. He was a gentle giant for all of us. Terry was a good man and always held a special place in my heart. Natalee, Jeremy and family, my thought and prayers are with you all at this time. Losing a father is one of the hardest things and all of my love goes out to you.
