Terry Lonon

LONON, Terry Eugene, 46, a lifelong resident of Land O’ Lakes and well known in the local music scene, died of complications from Type 1 Diabetes on June 23, 2018. Terry was born in Tampa on July 21, 1971. After graduating from Land O’ Lakes High School, Terry spent some time in the Merchant Marines before settling into a career in the construction industry. An expert drywall hanger, Terry also achieved success as a construction supervisor during the housing boom of the early 2000s. He married Sherri VandeSande, who he first met in high school on March 7, 1998. An accomplished musician, Terry played multiple types of guitars, wrote several songs, and was the highly regarded lead singer of the local band, Blisterine. When not performing with his own band, Terry would often fill in with other local acts. He also enjoyed simply pickin’ in his home or his parents’ backyard with his uncle, Johnny Newell, with whom he shared a great love of music. Terry is preceded in death by his wife, Sherri VandeSande Lonon, and their infant son, Seth Gabriel. He is survived by his daughters, Chelsea, 18, Ashley, 13, and his daughter from his first marriage, Brittany; his parents, Sharon and Jere Lonon of Land O’ Lakes; his sister, Lena Fernandez of Land O’ Lakes and her husband, Tim; and many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Saturday, June 30 at 10 a.m. at Loyless Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service.
