Terry Lee Wheeler
January 21st, 1950 - January 8th, 2021
Terry Lee (Parks) Wheeler January 21, 1950 January 8, 2021 (age 70) Terry Lee (Parks) Wheeler passed away early in the morning of January 8, 2021 after a long battle with Alzheimers Disease. She walked her path with valor, courage, grace and trust. Terry was born January 21, 1950 in Livermore, CA to wonderful parents-- James Hall Parks, Jr. and Barbara Jean Parks who made their home in Danville, CA. Growing up in Danville with her siblings Anne, Becky and Dave, Terry attended Montair Elementary, Charlotte Wood Middle School, San Ramon Valley High and later Cal State Hayward. After high school, Terry was briefly married to Michael Phillips of Walnut Creek, CA. Together they welcomed Jamie, a beautiful baby girl with the cutest dimples, into their home. Later, Terry met her future and forever soul-mate, Stephen Wheeler. They were married in 1973, and moved to Clayton, CA five years later. Terry and Stephen captured each other's hearts for 47+ years and added three more beautiful children to their home; Kirsten, Jeff and Scott. Terry loved each of her childrens spouses like her very own children. She was especially proud of each of her 9 amazing and smart grandchildren: Haley, Krislynne, James, Thomas, Carlie, Kate, Emma, Soren and Lucas. From the time she was a young girl through adulthood, Terry loved camping with her family at Lake Shasta-- boating, skiing, "floating" for hours with her cousins and sisters. She loved baking and was a great cook. Terry loved to do family history work. Terry had wit and a great sense of humor. She loved music, and loved to sing, especially Motown and also around the piano as Stephen played. For nearly 30 years, Terry worked as a bookkeeper for Stephens tax firm while also tirelessly being a mother, homemaker and fun, creative grandma. Terry was service oriented, extremely hard-working, dedicated and organized in everything she did. She lovingly raised her family by example and deed, while also serving faithfully in many church assignments. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints, she served as a Cub Scout Leader, Relief Society President, Young Women President, Girls Camp Leader, Nursery Coordinator, Primary Teacher, Temple Worker at the Oakland California Temple, as well as serving 2 church missions one in the Cambodian Branch and one in the Spanish Branch. She volunteered for an adult literacy outreach program where she helped adults learn to read. Her life was one full of quiet and untiring service, touching the lives of all around her. Terry is survived by her loving husband, Stephen Wheeler; daughter Jamie Rounds of San Diego, CA, and granddaughters Haley and Carlie; daughter Kirsten Wood (Mick) of Concord, CA and grandson Thomas; son Jeffrey Wheeler (Janalynne) of Riverton, UT and grandchildren Krislynne, James, Kate, and Emmaline; son Scott Wheeler (Melissa) of Poulsbo, WA, and grandsons Soren and Lucas. Terrys mother Barbara Parks of Danville, CA also survives her, along with her sister Becky Smith of Grass Valley, CA and brother Dave Parks of Danville, CA. She is preceded in death by her father James Hall Parks, Jr. and her sister Anne Johnson. Her kindness, caring and easy laugh will be missed by all who knew her, but especially by her family. Mom we miss you. You are forever in our hearts. A family service will be held in Walnut Creek at Oak Park Hills Chapel, on January 22, 2021. Interment will be in the Danville/Alamo Cemetery. Due to COVID restrictions, the small service is limited to family by invitation only. Our family extends a very special thank you and heartfelt appreciation to Bridge Hospice as well as Terrys caregivers-- Doris, Tessie, Beatrice, Aris, Rebecca and the other wonderful staff at Abraham Care Homes for their incredible support, care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BYU Pathway Worldwide Program give.byupathway.org/memoria or your favorite charity.
