Thelma "Debbie" Jane Deboard
February 22nd, 1944 - August 5th, 2016
Thelma Jane "Debbie" Deboard, 72 of Duffield, VA, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 5, 2016 at Nova Health and Rehab Center following a hard fought battle with cancer. Thelma was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was a yard sale enthusiast. Thelma was a member and clerk/treasurer of Kaylors Chapel Church. She initiated the Angel tree at Duffield primary school. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Ruby Rhoton; infant son; Stephen Wayne Deboard; sister, Loudema Gilliam; special uncle, Roy "Pidge" Frazier; 2 sister-in-laws; and 1 brother-in-law. Thelma is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, James Deboard; son, Brad Allen Deboard; granddaughter, Brooke Olivia Deboard; grandson, Nicholas Deboard; sister, Shirley Meade and husband Bob; brother-in-law's, Ronnie Gilliam and Larry Pruitt; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. The family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm on Monday, August 8, 2016 at Scott County Funeral Home in Weber City. Friends may also call anytime at the residence. A funeral service will follow in the chapel with Pastor David Kerns and Pastor Wayne Baker officiating. Music will be provided by Kaylors Chapel Choir and Quartet. A graveside service will be conducted at 11am on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at Holston View Cemetery. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral Home by 10:30am to go in procession to the cemetery. Pallbearers will be the deacons of Kaylors Chapel, Tim Skeens, and Ezra Rhoton. Bob Meade, Ronnie Gilliam, and Mikey Gilliam will serve as honorary pallbearers. Carter-Trent/Scott County Funeral Home, Weber City is serving the Deboard family.
