Obituary for Theodore Raymond Chase

Theodore Raymond Chase—beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend—passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on August 6, 2024, at the age of 69. Ted demonstrated immense strength and perseverance through a variety of health challenges over the past 4 years, culminating in a devastating diagnosis of pancreatic cancer in May 2024.

Born on June 4, 1955, Ted was a cherished member of his family and a revered figure to all who knew him. He was a devoted husband to his wife Ruby Chase, with whom he shared over 45 years of love, adventure, and joy.  Ted was a proud father to his daughter Nicole Rae Smith and his son Aaron Michael Chase, both of whom were a source of immense joy and pride in his life. Ted is also survived by his sisters Becky and Jaylynne, who remember him with great affection. Ted’s greatest joy was being a grandpa and spending time with his five grandchildren (Diego [11], Charly Rae [9], Lucy [7], Trevor [5], and Zoey [1]).

Ted's magnetic personality and kindness impacted the lives of many. Known for his humor, compassion, and charm, he had a unique ability to light up any room he entered and made everyone he encountered feel important. His dedication to his family was unwavering, and he viewed his role as a father and a husband as the most honorable and important achievement of his life.

In his professional life, Ted was a successful businessman whose integrity and hard work earned him the respect and admiration of his peers. Beyond his career, he was a passionate lover of all sports (especially baseball and football), a pursuit he enjoyed throughout his life, whether as a player or a fan. His endeavors in sports as a young man earned him many accolades but his love of a healthy competition—be it family game-night or a round of golf—always lifted his spirits and inspired others to join in the fun.  His enthusiasm for athletics and games mirrored his zest for life, which he embraced with an infectious energy.

Ted leaves a vast space which can never be filled. He is deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His legacy of love, laughter, and dedication will remain a guiding light for those who knew him best.

May Theodore (Ted) Raymond Chase rest in peace, surrounded by the love he so generously gave to others.

I had the pleasure of working with Ted for several years when he was the Group Manager for the NW group and I was the Area President. Ted was an exceptional leader with outstanding interpersonal skills, building the business and developing his people. Just as importantly, he was an excellent friend and family man. He will be missed by all of us who were part of his Aramark family. I will forever have fond memories of our travels and time together.

Ted was a great coworker, teammate and friend. We experienced much success and had a lot of fun and laughs with our wonderful team. Outside work, we enjoyed family time and the occasional round of golf. He was a fine leader and a better person. May you rest in peace and may perpetual light shine upon you Super Ted.
