Theodore "Ted" Rodriguez
April 18th, 1954 - July 7th, 2020
Obituary The sun set for Theodore Rodriguez (Theo Red River) on July 7, 2020 after a battle with cancer. "Ted" was born on April 18, 1954 to Guadalupe and Helen (Castellanos) Rodriguez. He was preceded in death by his beloved father, Guadalupe. Survivors include his mother; Helen of Fort Collins, his children; Christina and Christopher of Pueblo, Emily and Sam Rodriguez of Wyndmoor, PA. His sisters; Yolanda of Fort Collins and Rebecca (Randy) Vinton of Greeley. His brothers; Michael (Susan) of Loveland and Thomas of Wellington. He had 8 grandchildren, 1 niece and 3 nephews. Ted's career as a mechanic was inspired by his love for cars as a teenager. Ted enjoyed his bright yellow custom 1947 Ford truck, which he entered in many car shows. Theo Red River was a proud Mescalero Apache, who deeply loved and honored his family and extended family in the Native American Community. He traveled throughout Indian Country as a pow wow dancer and as a valued participant in sacred Native ceremonies, living out his passion for keeping the traditions alive. He is remembered in every heartbeat of the drum and as every hawk soars above. A'ho, mitakuyepi! (To all my relatives) He enjoyed fishing and big game hunting with his brothers, which was instilled in the 3 brothers at a very young age by their father. Ted was surrounded by the love and care of his immediate family to his very last breath. His presence will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends. Rest in Peace Theo. A memorial service will be held 1 pm, Saturday, August 22, 2020, at Wellington Cemetery in Wellington, Colorado, where we will lay Ted to rest. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing and face coverings will be required at the service.
