Theola Janet Peters

PETERS, Theola Janet, 96, of Tampa went home to be with her Lord and her beloved husband, Stan, on Thursday, November 2, 2017. Theola was born and raised in Norton, Virginia, where she was on the Virginia State Basketball Championship Team 3 years in a row. Theola was a life-long member of the Church of God and she dedicated her life to serving the Lord. Second only to her love for her family was her love of music. At church she directed the youth choir, the adult choir, and several singing groups. In her later years she would spend hours playing hymns on the piano at her ALF with many residents giving requests and singing along. Theola was a Secretary/Bookkeeper for Hillsborough County Schools for over 25 years and loved to encourage the children to do their best. In her 60’s she decided to attend college where she made all A’s. Her favorite hobby was quilting and her family will always treasure the quilts she made for each of them. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Stan. She is survived by one son, Edgar Peters and his wife, Dawn; one daughter, Candi Willis and her husband, Jim; two grandchildren, Janet Rohrberg and Pam Pillon and her husband, Bryan; three great grandchildren, Cassidy Rohrberg, Tyler Rohrberg and Cameron Pillon; and one sister, Doris Souther. A memorial service will take place at Myrtle Lake Baptist Church; 2017 Reigler Road; Land O Lakes, FL. on Monday, November 6, 2017, at 6:30 PM with a “Celebration Fellowship” immediately after the service.
