Thomas Bennie Arcuri

Mint Hill- Mr. Arcuri, 66, died Thursday, December 5, 2013 at Carolinas Medical Center-Main. He was born July 9, 1947 in Hickory, NC son of the late Bennie Arcuri and Margaret Smith Arcuri. Upon graduation from Lenoir-Rhyne College, Tom joined Belk Department Store in Wilmington, NC and later worked with Noritake China. In 1999, he formed A&H Sales, as a representative in the home furnishings industry. As an active member of Cross & Crown Lutheran Church, he served on Church Council, Finance Committee, Property Committee, Men"s Group, and ushered at services. He had a special knack for fund raising for projects or needs of the Church. Tom could find anyone to do anything or give anything. Tom took special interest in younger leaders and mentored several for leadership positions. He knew how to step back and encourage others to lead. A service in celebration of his life will be held at 11:00AM Monday, December 9, 2013 at Cross & Crown Lutheran Church, 300 Pineville-Matthews Road, Matthews with Pastor Jennifer Ginn officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium. The family will greet friends following the committal in the church fellowship hall. Tom is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Susan S. Arcuri; sons, Mark Thomas Arcuri and wife, Jennifer of Wilmington, NC and David Scott Stephenson and wife, Jennifer of Indian Trail, NC; a sister, Brenda Arcuri Safrit and husband, Gary of Greenville, SC; 4 grandchildren, Ben, Abby, Evan, and Avery; and a nephew, Lee Safrit and wife, Amy of Salem, SC. The family deeply appreciates the care and concern given Tom by Dr. Levi, Dr. Zamor, Dr. Besur, and the entire liver transplant team, as well as the staff at Carolinas Medical Center--Main. Also, the family encourages everyone to consider becoming an organ donor.
