Thomas Glenn Barker

Thomas Glenn Barker (Doc), age 88, passed away October 21, 2017. “Tom”, to all his friends and family, proudly served 28 years in the US Army, retiring as a Sargent Major. Thomas was born to Glenn Thomas Barker and Eunice Bessie Yates Barker in Kannapolis, North Carolina. Thomas had eight brothers and sisters. Tom spent the majority of his army career in the 82nd and 101st Airborne. His passion was being a paratrooper. He had accomplished 150 jumps in which he earned his Master Parachutist Badge. Tom was stationed in Japan, Iran, Germany, Texas, Oklahoma, New York, Florida and North Carolina. After retirement, Thomas built his own business painting homes. He and his wife relocated to Washington State in 1994, where he lived the rest of his days. Thomas is survived by his wife of 67 years, Connie A. Barker, daughter Barbara (Sidney), grandchildren, Pennie aka “Nickel” (Aaron), Cory aka “Troop”, Kristy aka “1” (Josh), Katie aka “2”, Kelly Ann aka “3”, great-grandchildren Jaycob aka “Tex”, Tyler aka “T-bird”, Emma, Noah, brothers and sisters: Polly Carpenter (Max), Bennie Barker (Jeanette), Florence Powers (Bob), Jane Holiday. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Deborah A. Barker, sisters and brothers: Mary Lee Barker, Billy Joe Barker, Jackson Barker and Johnnie Barker.
