Thomas Herron Barnette
December 15th, 1938 - June 16th, 2024
Thomas Herron Barnette, known to his friends and loved ones as Herron, passed away on June 16, 2024. He was born on December 15, 1938, in Charlotte, NC to Emma and Herman Barnette. Herron was a kind and loving man. He had a strong faith and loved all types of animals.
Herron is survived by his beloved wife, Betty, his daughter, Stephanie Vars and her husband, Kevin, son-in-law, Patric Spillane, grandchildren, Kara Vars, Gwendolyn Vars, and Joey Spillane, sister, Doris Winchester, step-daughters, Jane Wycoff and Susan Erwin, their husbands, Rick and Charlie, step-grandchildren, Michael Crosby, Ashlee Pichette (husband, Chad), and Nicholas Wycoff. He was preceded in death by his precious daughter, Elizabeth "Lisa" Barnette Spillane.
Herron graduated from Pfeiffer College in 1961. Throughout his life, he worked in sales, The Methodist Church, and at several local funeral homes. He was liked and respected by everyone he encountered.
A memorial service will be held at Tribute and Tallent Funeral and Cremations on Monday, June 24, 2024. Visitation will be from 2 pm to 3 pm with a service starting at 3 pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Herron's memory to Dilworth United Methodist Church, Charlotte, NC
