Obituary of Thomas R Butterfield Sr. On July 6th, 2020 the heavens opened their gates to welcome Thomas R. Butterfield. He is preceded in death by his parents Neil and Rosemary Butterfield. His Sisters Bonnie R. Upchurch (Elmo), Theodora C. Gilbert (William). His Brothers Lawrence K. Lewis (Wanda), and Robert C. Lewis (Gerda). He is the prideful father of three children, Janeffa Butterfield, Neilee Lujan, and Thomas R. Butterfield Jr. He was survived by his Sister Adrianne Lacrue (Dan), Emma J. Collier (Robert) And brother George H. Wilcoxen (Janie). He was a proud grandfather of Anastasia, Angelina, Hayden, Devin, Nick, Geena, and Matthew. And was even prouder to be a great grandfather of Elena, Zarra, Devin and Iliana. I name them all because he loved his family so much! Tom was born on April 16th, 1948 in Indiana and at a young age moved to Colorado with his family; And thru the course of his 72 years he paved his own way in life, no matter the direction it took. He was always very vocal to tell you what he thought. He wrote his own rules, fought authority, and if you told him he couldn’t do something, he would make sure to show you he could. He taught us how to fish, how to pick a quality hammer, how to change our oil and so much more. Tom was a proud man knowing he could share his knowledge with those he knew. He would do whatever was in his power to help you. Tom was a rare combination of someone who had a love of life and firm understanding of what was important – it was the simplicity of living a life with those he loved. He was always busy either helping someone out with a minor or major repair, working on cars, or riding his motorcycle. Throughout the years Tom had many Jobs and a wide variety of knowledge. Tom worked for family friends, The Hollands at their concessions for many years as a cook of all cooks, always cooking things the way he wanted, he loved being around them! He held a long-time career at Englewood schools, starting out as a bus driver, which he loved whole heartedly, he ultimately was Head grounds man and Maintenace. He then went to Shaw Group where he worked for several years, he retired as Head of HVAC and Building Maintenace. At each one of these jobs he created a family and a support group of wonderful people. Tom was a wonderful father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a loyal friend and helped his family as much as he could! He will be greatly missed every minute of every day! May you forever ride on and watch over. We love you! There will be a celebration of life held at Clement Park in Littleton on August 1st, 2020 between the times of 10:00am and 2:00pm. We will have a rememberance box so if you would like to bring a picture or written memory you can share that as well. If you would like to send flowers or a card please email Janeffa to get family address (kaymarieden3@gmail.com). We do understand social distancing right now. This is why the time frame is so long. You may come at any time to celebrate with us, that way everyone feels comfortable as well coming.
