Thomas Anthony Curto, Jr.

Thomas Anthony Curto, Jr. 75, of Belchertown, Massachusetts passed away February 19, 2024, at home surrounded by his family. He was born on June 23, 1948, in Springfield, Massachusetts to Thomas and Rosemary (Durant) Curto. Tom was raised in Ludlow and graduated from Ludlow High School. He proudly served his country in the US Navy from 1967-1971. He moved to Belchertown in 1983 and has lived there ever since. He was a communicant of St. Francis Church and worked as the maintenance supervisor. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a Past Grand Knight. Tom coached softball, baseball, basketball and soccer for the Belchertown Recreation department since 1984. He umpired softball and baseball all throughout Western Mass and served as the Umpire in Chief for the Belchertown Little League for the past 13 years. He loved watching his sons and grandchildren play sports as well as watching his daughters and granddaughters dance. He was an avid Red Sox fan and loved to watch Western movies. He will be remembered for playing Santa at the Hampshire Mall, Randalls Farm and many private parties for years. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Root) Curto of Belchertown and six children, Angela Curto of Belchertown, Thomas A. Curto, III (Cassi) of Belchertown, Gina Perry of Belchertown, Mary Elizabeth O'Rourke (Brendan) of Dahlgren, VA, Frank Curto of Worcester and Louis Curto (Colleen) of Denver, CO. He also leaves four siblings, Lou Curto of Oldsmar, FL, Mary Jo Cristina (Dennis) of Federal Way, WA, Anthony Curto of Ludlow and Joseph Curto (Ellyn) of Chicopee. He will be deeply missed by his 10 grandchildren, Laura, Molly, Bella, Madelynn, Charlotte, Jeffrey, Oliver, Gus, Thomas, Finn and two on the way. Calling hours will be held on Monday, Feb 26, 2024, from 4:00-7:00pm at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 27th at 11:00 am, please meet directly at the church. Burial with military honors will follow at 1:00pm at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Belchertown Little League, PO Box 307, Belchertown, MA 01007.
