Thomas "Tom" M. Dwyer
March 18th, 1961 - March 2nd, 2024
Charleston – Thomas “Tom” Matthew Dwyer, 62, formerly of Maltaville, NY passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Albany Medical Center after a courageous battle with a long illness. He was born in Massena, NY on March 18, 1961, to parents Helen Snell and the late Robert Dwyer. Tom graduated from Shenendehowa High School and SUNY Cobleskill. He retired from his career with the NYS Dept. of Transportation as an Engineer in Charge but never stopped building or playing in concrete. Tom enjoyed a variety of interests ranging from gardening and cooking to music, art, and anything that brought him to the great outdoors. He was a renowned pack master to pairs and trios of adoring German Shepherd dogs. His grill master skills will be mourned by friends, family, and canines alike. Tom was fond of the proverb, "A society grows great when old men plant trees in whose shade they shall never sit." He was a thoughtful man who spoke little but planted many trees. He was the beloved husband of Lauren Bibby; father to Erica Dwyer (Matt) and Thomas Dwyer (Sara); brother of Sharon Humphrey (Robert), Sean Dwyer, Diana Dwyer, Maureen Goodrich, Kathleen Berry (Chris); brother-in-law, to Leslie Parker. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who he all loved dearly. Family and friends are welcome to gather and celebrate Tom at the Glen Reformed Church, 1526 NY-161 Fultonville, NY 12072 on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at 10:30 am with Pastor Tom J. Flander, Jr officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Glen Animal Hospital, 221 Burley Rd. Fultonville, NY 12072 or The Vexas Foundation https://vexas.org.
