Thomas George Kent
December 27th, 1936 - December 11th, 2023
Thomas George Kent, 86, of Arvada, CO, passed away surrounded by family on December 11, 2023. He was born in Peoria, Illinois, on December 27, 1936, to Edith (Oesterle) Kent and Clarence “Joe” Kent. Tom earned his Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s in Education from Concordia University in River Forest, Illinois. He taught at Lutheran schools for about 20 years before entering the Concordia Lutheran Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri, and becoming a Lutheran minister in 1980. He was passionate about his role as a pastor, and preached his last sermon just two weeks before his passing. He served as a pastor in several parishes in Kansas and Colorado. Most recently, he enjoyed preaching regularly at New Hope Lutheran Church in Golden, CO. Tom is survived by his son, Michael (Kristen) Kent; daughter Angela Click; seven grandchildren Natosha, Anthony (Buddy), Vincent, Alex, Michael, Andrew, and Kaylee; five great grandchildren; and one brother, James Kent. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Gerald “Jerry” Kent; and one sister, Linda Kent-Whited. A Celebration of Life will be Monday, December 18, at 11:00 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 5675 Field Street. Arvada, CO, 800002. Memorials or donations may be made to Peace Lutheran Church, Youth Ministries.
