Thomas F. Lacher, Jr., 77, of Port Charlotte, FL. passed away on November 20, 2019. Tom was born on November 28, 1941 in Kalispell, MT. to Thomas and Jane (Cockrell) Lacher. Upon graduation from Flathead County High School, he served in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Intrepid. After his service in the Navy, Tom graduated from Montana State University with a degree in Electrical Engineering and then from Bradley University with a Master’s Degree in Mathematics. After graduating from M.S.U., he began working as an Electrical Engineer at Caterpillar, Inc. in Peoria, IL., where he spent his entire employment career. He retired to Port Charlotte, FL. Tom was a prodigious reader who enjoyed all types of literature. He was also an expert square dancer and an accomplished bowler. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, brother, John Lacher and daughter, Keri Lacher. He is survived by son Thomas (Becky) Lacher, three grandsons, Nicholas Lacher, Jacob Lacher and Matthew Lacher and one granddaughter, Carly Lacher. In lieu of memorial donations, the family asks that you go to your favorite restaurant or bar and enjoy some good food and drink and then leave a generous tip for the hardworking wait staff who serve you, just as Tom always did.
