Thomas C. Laughlin

Laughlin, Thomas Camp, 88, of St. Petersburg died Monday, July 24, 2017. Tom was born in Pennsylvania to the late Eleanor and Thomas Simpson Laughlin. Tom graduated from St. Pete High School in 1947, studied at St. Pete Junior College, University of Florida and received a PhD from Florida State University. He worked for the Department of the Navy in Washington DC, and at the Naval Air Station in Patuxent River, Maryland. Tom taught courses in American Government at Florida State University, the University of Mississippi, the University of Alabama, and the University of South Florida. He ended his career working for the Public Works Program of the City of St. Petersburg. Tom was a member of First Presbyterian Church of St. Petersburg where he served as deacon and later as an Elder. He is survived by his wife, Margarita "Margie" Gonzalez Laughlin; daughter, Jessica Lunsford; son, Thomas Scott Laughlin; sister, Jo Ann Fries; many extended family members and friends. The family will receive friends for a gathering from 1:30 pm until the memorial service at 2pm on Sunday, July 30, 2017, Anderson McQueen Family Tribute Center 2201 Dr. MLK Street St. Petersburg, FL 33704.
