Thomas “Tom” Myles Marshall, Sr., 67, of Summerville, SC passed away after a courageous battle with cancer at his residence on February 27, 2021 surrounded by family. Tom was born October 1, 1953 to Roy & Virginia Marshall of Mt. Pleasant, SC. He grew up in Mt. Pleasant and on Sullivan’s Island. He graduated from Moultrie High School, attended Gordon Bible College in Georgia and went to the Police Academy in SC. He graduated and became a police officer at the age of 20. He worked for City of Charleston, Charleston County Police Department, Sullivan’s Island, Folly Beach Public Safety (where he was acting chief for a bit) and was a Volunteer Firefighter, Berkeley County Sheriffs Dept. and finally settling in at Dorchester County Sheriff Dept. as a Detective. He finally retired as a Detective after 40+ years. Instead of enjoying retirement life he went into the Private Investigator business with his former DC Sheriff and went on to work school security for the local schools in his area and then added to the list School Crossing Guard at one of the local elementary schools. Tom dedicated his life to helping others and was a hero to so many. Tom was predeceased by his dad Roy Myles Marshall, his mother Virginia E. Hopkins (stepdad Lester).
