"Three Rivers - Thomas J. McLaughlin, 85, of South St., died on August 26, 2012. He was born January 30, 1927 in Springfield, MA, son of the late Louis and Rose (Parda) McLaughlin. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was the former commander and member of Amvets and the American Legion. Thomas was a former Fire Chief for Three Rivers Fire Dept. and served for over 20 years. He worked as a machinist for Tambrands for 22 years and was a communicant of Divine Mercy Parish. Tom enjoyed fishing and was a long time member of the Swift River Sportsman Club and Quaboag Fisherman's Club. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lucille (Paquette) McLaughlin and a daughter Tamara Walker both of Three Rivers. He also leaves 2 grandchildren Ashlee and Thomas J. Walker. Thomas was preceded in death by a son, Thomas A. McLaughlin and a sister Louise Church. Family and friends may gather at Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home on Thursday, Aug. 30th for 9:15 am. to process to a Funeral Mass at Divine Mercy Parish at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Anne's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM. Donations may be made in his memory to the "Tommy" McLaughlin Scholarship Fund at Pathfinder Vocational High School in Palmer. "
