Thomas Owen Mead

MEAD, Thomas Owen “Tom,” 65, of Lutz passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2016. He was born in Mineola, New York, and moved to Florida in 1996. Tom loved music of many genres and was an avid sports fan. He loved playing and following the game of golf and rooting for his favorite teams: Villanova basketball, the New York Mets, the Tampa Bay Rays, the New York Islanders and the Tampa Bay Lightning. He loved his neighbors and neighborhood and was proud to serve on its Board of Directors for over a decade. He also loved his annual autumn vacation to the mountains with his wife and enjoyed taking in God’s amazing world. But Tom’s greatest joy and passion was the time he spent with and love he showered on his four grandsons. Tom is preceded in death by his parents, George and Betty Mead, and sister Peggy. He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Olivia; son Shawn Mead; daughters Jenny Rolston (Tim), Lindsay Fields (Chris) and Tara Power; brother-in-law James Williams; sister Elizabeth “Kippy” (Len Christopher); and grandsons Jackson Steven, Peter Timothy, Matthew Owen and Eli Owen. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in his name to the Melech Hospice House, 11125 N. 52nd Street, Temple Terrace, FL 33617.
