Thomas R. Quackenbush, Jr; age 72, of Gloversville, died Friday, July 10, 2020 at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam. He had struggled with cancer for several years and lost the battle due to complications of Covid-19. He was born October 12, 1947 in Gloversville, the son of the late Thomas, Sr. and Gertrude Lee Quackenbush. He was employed at the former MCA Record Company for many years. Tom was a member of the Gloversville Free Methodist Church and was a volunteer at the Gloversville Salvation Army for many years. He was an avid fan of many sports, particularly racing at Fonda Speedway. Tom is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Anne "Cookie" Marlitt Quackenbush; a daughter, Nancy S. LaFountain; two sisters, Joanne Hinman (Dennis) and Susan Wrabel (Stephen); a brother, John Quackenbush (Rohini); a grandson, Cody LaFountain; as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 6pm Tuesday, July 14 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. Facial covering and social distancing will be required. A private service will take place Wednesday at the convenience of the family with Pastor Rich Wilkinson officiating. Interment will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gloversville Free Methodist Church, 1200 County Highway 122, Gloversville, NY 12078.
