With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Michael Thomas O'Shaughnessy, who departed this life on September 30, 2024, in Macon, Georgia. A memorial service with military honors will be held in his honor at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at 2:30 PM. Those who had the pleasure of knowing Michael are invited to attend and pay their respects.

Born on June 11, 1953, in Harris, Texas, Michael lived a life filled with dedication, service, and a passion for his various interests. Michael served honorably in the United States Navy from 1979 to 1986, a period during which he exhibited exceptional dedication to his country. Following his military service, he continued to contribute to society as a reporter. His investigative skills and commitment to delivering the truth marked his career. He had an affinity for the digital world and spent much of his spare time immersed in computer games, particularly enjoying "World of Warcraft." Additionally, Michael was an avid coin collector and had a keen eye for photography, capturing the world through his unique perspective.

Michael is preceded in death by his loving parents, Clifford O'Shaughnessy and Lenora Battarbee, and his siblings. He is survived by his devoted caretaker, Jeanine Marie Lyons, and his cherished Yorkie, Toby, who brought immense joy to his later years. His departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, but his memory and the legacy of his service and passion will continue to inspire.
