Thomas Eugene Scanlan
December 16th, 1939 - April 14th, 2016
Thomas Eugene Scanlan passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 14th 2016. A private family gathering was held in May at Fairhaven Memorial Park in Santa Ana California. He is survived by his children Tom, Marty, Susan and Dennis. Tom lives in California, Marty and Susan in Washington State and Dennis in Japan. (Thomas) Tom, was born in Chicago on December 16, 1939. He was an only child for Maryanne and Jerry (Gilbert) Scanlan. The family moved to California during World War II when his Dad joined the Marine Corp. After they divorced in 1947, Maryanne was remarried to James M. Gillespie. James was like a father to Tom. A longtime resident of San Diego County, Tom was well known and respected in the public utilities industry. After working for SDGE for many years, he began working as a utility consultant and eventually opened his own business, Delta Consultants. He was a skilled golfer, enjoyed working with his horses, and always loved Corvettes. Tom will be missed by his family and his many friends.
