Thomas Wesley Swain

Thomas Wesley Swain, age 75 of Charlotte, North Carolina passed away Sunday June 28th at home with his family by his side. He bravely battled lung cancer for almost 3 years. Tom was born June 11,1940 in Nauvooe, AL. He grew up in Birmingham, AL and married Martha Waldrup (his high school sweetheart) in 1960. He graduated from the University of Alabama in 1963. He worked for U.S. Steel and then Youngstown Sheet and Tube. In 1980 he founded Pioneer Steel. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church since 1971 and a member of Buck Gray Sunday school class. He is now with his Lord and Savior. He is preceded in death by his parents, Arcula and Charlie Swain. Tom is survived by his wife Martha of 55 years; his children, Kathy Morrison, Ben Swain and his wife Suzanne; his four grandchildren, Ashley and her husband Steve, Abby and her husband Ben, Hannah, and Wes ; his four great grandchildren, Brie, Bella, Stephen, and James. A Celebration of his life will be held Monday, July 6th at 11:00am at Providence Baptist Church, 4921 Randolph Rd; Charlotte, NC 28211. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Providence Baptist Church Benevolence Fund, 4921 Randolph Rd., Charlotte, NC 28211.
