Thurmon D. 'Ted' Carpenter, 81, of St. Petersburg, FL, died Sunday, September 14, 2003 at home under the care of The Hospice Of The Florida Suncoast. He was born in Athens, TN and moved to St. Petersburg in 1975 from Tampa, FL where he was a 1941 graduate of Hillsboro High School. He was a traffic analyst for General Telephone Co. for 35 years in Tampa and St. Petersburg. He was a Master Mason in the John Darling Lodge #154 F&A.M. in Tampa and was an auxiliary police officer with the Tampa Police Dept. from 1958 to 1969. He served on the Board Of Directors of GTE Federal Credit Union. He was an Army Air Forces veteran of WW II where he achieved the rank of Sergeant and received the EAME Medal with 2 Bronze Stars. He was a member of Solid Rock Christian Church in St. Petersburg. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Carol G., one son, Ken D. Carpenter of Lutz, one sister, Grace Carey of Fort Myers, FL, and two grandsons, Timothy D. and David J. Carpenter.
