Timothy Dean Gillson
December 7th, 1947 - April 19th, 2024
Revelation 21:4 "He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
Timothy Dean Gillson, a revered veteran, loving family man, and skilled craftsman, passed away on April 19, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of courage, dedication, and love. Born on December 7, 1947, in Portland, OR, Timothy's character was shaped by the values of hard work and commitment to family, which he carried throughout his life.
Tim served his country with valor in the United States Navy from 1965 to 1968. His military service took him to the heart of conflict during the Vietnam War, where he was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal with One Bronze Star, the Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device, and the National Defense Service Medal. These honors, a testament to his bravery and service, were a source of pride not just for him but for all who knew him.
Tim graduated from Boise State University on May 18th, 1980, same date Mount St. Helens erupted, with a Bachelor of Arts. Beyond his military and academic accomplishments, Tim was also a certified welder and a handyman, skills that he used not only in his career but also in helping those around him, embodying the spirit of service in every aspect of his life.
Tim's personal life was rich with love and joy. He shared his life with his beloved wife, Rosemary Louise, and was a dedicated father to Kevin, Michael, and Robert (who predeceased him in 1988). His legacy continued through his grandson, Theodore, his granddaughters, Anna, Jolynn, Emily, Ella, Miranda, Sara, and Abby, and his great-grandchildren, Laura Rose and Wilder, all of whom brought immense happiness and pride into his life.
As we remember Tim, we are reminded of the resilience of the human spirit and the profound impacts of love, duty, and service.
