Timothy J. Higgins
August 22nd, 1933 - December 20th, 2013
Timothy J. Higgins Melbourne, Florida Timothy James Higgins, of Melbourne, Florida passed away on Friday December 20, 2013. He was a devoted and loving Husband, Father and Grandfather. He was the second of three children from John and Angela Higgins, born on August 22, 1933 in (the) Bronx, NY rarely leaving town until he joined the Air Force in 1951. Shortly after honorably serving in the military he met and married the girl of his dreams, Lucille Puglisi on June 9, 1956. They remained by each other's side nearly every day for 57+ years, raising their four sons and enjoying the births of five grandchildren (Stephanie, Stephen, Kathleen, Brianna & Madeleine). Tim worked as a design engineer, spending the majority of his career at Grumman on Long Island, NY where he met and worked with some of his closest lifelong friends. He was a sports enthusiast and loved coaching his sons and their friends from Lake Grove, NY in baseball, basketball, hockey, soccer and most of all football. His greatest joy was watching Giants' games with his sons, delighting in his wife's sauce and homemade pasta at half time. He also rooted for the Mets, Knicks, Islanders and enjoyed golf. After retiring to Suntree his golf hobby become a passion, hoping one day to ""shoot his age"". Tim is survived by his wife Lucille, three children Gregory (wife Kim), Michael (wife Carolann), Kevin (Karyn) and sister Marie (husband Jack). He was predeceased by his son Stephen (widow Maryann) and sister Angela (husband Edward). Tim was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Viera, Fl, where a Funeral Mass will be held at 10 AM, Monday, December 23, 2013. lieu of flowers please donate to St. Jude Children's hospital.
