LEXINGTON, SC – Timothy (Tim) Lyn Hunter passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 23, 2023. He was the youngest son of the late G. Wilson Hunter and Susie Brickle Hunter. Born November 12, 1957, he grew up in West Columbia, SC. In his late twenties, Tim gave his heart to Jesus Christ after many prayers from his family. His knowledge of the Bible and his faith in Jesus Christ deepened throughout his life. He loved Proverbs 30:5, “Every word of God is pure, he is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.” He graduated from Airport High School. He attended the University of South Carolina where he graduated with a B. S. in Marine Science/Physical Oceanography. He was introduced to his wife, Stacey, by his mother in 1983 at their local church. They began dating and married in 1987. It wasn’t until 2007 that they welcomed their precious son, Wilson (John), into the world. Tim was a dedicated, loving husband and father. He always put his family needs first. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Stacey Sanders Hunter; his son, John Wilson Hunter; his brother, Mark Hunter (Sandra) of Columbia, SC and their son, Jason Hunter (Catherine) and daughter, Jill Watson (Ty); his sister, Jane Jefferson (Kenneth) of Columbia, SC and their daughter, Julie Argoti (Pedro) and son, John Jefferson (Raquel); many grand nieces and nephews; his Sanders family members including sister-in-law, Jean Jones (Mike) and son, Branyon Jones (Macy), sister-in-law, Sharon Wright (Hank) and their daughter, Christina Brockington (Brock) and daughter, Shannon Wright, brother-in-law, Paul Sanders and daughter, Clara Ann Sanders and son, Kenny Sanders, and several grand-nieces; and his extended family of SC Department of Transportation former co-workers. The family will receive friends at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at Thompson Funeral Home on Augusta Highway, with funeral following at 11:00 am. The burial will follow at Southland Memorial Gardens on W. Dunbar Rd., family and friends are all welcome.
