Timothy K. Mitchell

Timothy Karl Mitchell - January 2, 1949 – August 16, 2024

Timothy Karl Mitchell, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend, passed away on August16, 2024 after a short battle with brain cancer. Born on January 2, 1949, in Ballston Spa, NY, Tim lived a life of dedication to his family and friends and adventure, splitting his time between his homes in Canada Lake, NY and Big Sky, Montana. Tim is survived by his wife, best friend and favorite ski buddy, Susan F. Mitchell; his children, Mike Mitchell (Gaela Mitchell), Erin Beaudet (Dave Beaudet), Jon Mitchell (Elisa Garvey), and Chad Mitchell (Bridget Mitchell), grandchildren Sam and Emma Mitchell, Trevor and Jack Beaudet, Chloe and Hadley Mitchell, and Ben, Hazel, and Lucy Mitchell. He also leaves behind his mother, Barbara Mitchell, his siblings, Linda Conprobst (Dan Conpropst), James Mitchell (Kathy Mitchell), and Rosemary VanGuilder (Gilbert VanGuilder), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. A graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, Tim earned his Bachelor of Engineering Degree and worked for many years as a partner at Teele-Mitchell Design Builders in Clifton Park, NY. Tim cherished his time hiking, hunting, and fishing in the Adirondacks. He equally loved spending winters living and teaching skiing in Big Sky, MT, sharing his love of the slopes with anyone who was willing to try to keep up. Tim had an infectious spirit that drew people to him. He was always game for any proposed adventure or project and brought laughter and fun to all who knew him. He will forever be missed by his family and friends. Tim died as he lived. He maintained his sense of humor and gratitude never complaining about the fate that took him far too soon. As in life, he was truly inspirational. Gatherings to celebrate Tim’s life will be held in both New York and Montana, allowing family and friends to come together to honor his memory and the impact he had on their lives. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Eagle Mount of Bozeman, MT(https://eaglemount.org/) or Double H Ranch of Luzerne, NY (https://www.doublehranch.org/). Eagle Mount provides opportunities for people with disabilities to enjoy the outdoors. Double H Ranch helps children with chronic or life threatening illnesses experience the Adirondacks.
