Todd Lee McCallister

Todd Lee McCallister, born on November 16, 1959, passed away on June 17, 2024, in St. Petersburg, FL. He filled the world with his vibrant presence for 64 years, leaving behind a legacy filled with excellence and love. Todd's life was a testament to the resilience of the human spirit.

Todd achieved academic excellence earning his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Virginia, after receiving his B.A in Economics, Phi Beta Kappa from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His academic accomplishments were an attestation to his intellect and perseverance. Todd’s talents weren't confined to just his academic pursuits. He set numerous records in track at the high school, college, and national levels, notably running a sub-4-minute mile. He was also featured in Sports Illustrated. At UNC, he was a Division I Track Athlete, where he was the co-captain of the track team. 

His professional career was equally impressive. After writing his dissertation on game theory, Todd found his lifelong passion in applying statistics to financial markets. Todd became a CFA while at Investment Advisors, Inc in Minneapolis, MN. Soon after, he and his family moved to Florida, where he served as a Managing Director and Portfolio Manager at Eagle Asset Management for 27 years. Todd was well renowned for his investment acumen and was featured in Barron's magazine. 

For those fortunate enough to know Todd personally, he was more than just his professional, academic, and athletic achievements. He strove to be a polymath. His knowledge and love of learning carried over into many aspects of his life. To his friends and family, Todd’s intellect could only be matched by his generosity. And while Todd was ambitious, driven, and successful, he also showed great concern for other’s struggles. He was quick-witted, truly one of a kind and unforgettable.

Todd was preceded in death by his parents, Judith L. Pitzer and Richard A. McCallister. He leaves behind a family who will forever cherish his memory: his devoted wife of 31 years Barbara McCallister; his daughters Amanda (Alec) Long and Lara McCallister; and his twin brother Mark (Sue) McCallister. 

A Memorial Service to honor Todd's memory will be held on Wednesday, July 3rd, at 2:00 PM at Anderson McQueen Funeral Home, located at 2201 Dr. MLK Jr St N, St. Petersburg, FL 33704. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A reception will follow at Fred’s Cellar at the Vinoy Resort & Golf Club from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM for everyone to gather and share stories about Todd and his impact on their lives. 

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests contributions be made to the American Heart Association or Mayo Foundation for Medical Education and Research in Todd’s name. 

Todd’s passing leaves a profound void in the lives of those who knew him, and his legacy will endure in the hearts and minds of many.
